All the balance of system (BoS) components for a 100MW PV plant in the Philippines will be provided by Schneider Electric, the energy management and automation company has announced.
Details of the project, including developer, owner and location were not disclosed but Schneider said it has also won a contract to service the plant for 10 years after its construction is completed. Schneider has upped its interest in the plant services sector in recent years, with the company claiming to have surpassed 1GW of service contracts as long ago as 2013. Schneider’s locally-based team in the Philippines will carry out the servicing.

Equipment to be supplied to the Philippines plant includes Schneider’s Conext Core XC inverters, which the company launched in 2014, as well as the company’s own-branded DC combiner boxes, solar array combiner boxes and monitoring and control systems.
Schneider says its complete solution is approved by the Philippine organisation responsible for the grid, National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP), which is currently in the process of implementing a number of changes to the grid code.
Interest in solar in the Philippines and the wider Asia Pacific region has grown immensely. Schneider said it supplied another Philippines project, a 30MW grid-connected PV plant, with BoS components in March. PV Tech reported earlier this week that neighbouring Indonesia is set to increase its renewable energy budget fivefold, while inverter maker Kaco recently said it will build manufacturing facilities in Thailand. A report by GTM Research just out highlighted that emerging regions such as Southeast Asia, Latin America, the Middle East and Africa could “accelerate the market” globally for PV.
