Signet Solar joins BSC-Solar to develop power plant in Czech Republic

Signet Solar and BSC-Solar are jointly developing a solar power plant in the Blížkovice region, South Moravia near the Austrian border, of the Czech Republic. Signet is supplying the single junction silicon thin-film PV modules, which will total 1.8MW for the whole project.

“BSC-Solar, had a single most important criteria for cooperation with Signet Solar,” said Dieter Schäfer and Dalibor Kopp, managing directors of BSC-Solar. “No two locations are the same and each solar farm requires a customized approach to development. Signet Solar’s system level application support and project management expertise delivers an optimal installation experience. This strong customer commitment, coupled with the high quality of Signet Solar single junction silicon thin film modules, convinced us that we had made the right decision in partnering with Signet Solar.”

Installation for the project is anticipated to start at the end of October. BSC is constructing the solar farm on five hectares using approximately 20,000 single junction silicon thin-film modules. Completion and connection to the grid is expected by the end of 2009 with the potential to generate 2.4 million Kwh annually.
