SiOnyx adds Jeannine Sargent to board

Shallow-junction photonics company SiOnyx has tapped over 20 years of technology management experience with its addition of Jeannine Sargent to its board of directors. A surprise departure from her two-year tenure at the helm of Oerlikon Solar in November 2009 was followed by her current role at Crosslink Capital, where she is involved in the company’s Energy and Core Technology/Semiconductor Practice.

Sargent’s role at SiOnyx will be a supportive one, as the company looks to advance its ‘Black Silicon’ technology platform, a laser processing technique that is said to dramatically enhance the electro-optical performance of photonic devices.

Former roles for Sargent include executive roles in Veeco, Voyan Technology, Gasonics International and Tencor Instruments (now KLA-Tencor).

“I’m extremely impressed with results demonstrated to date incorporating SiOnyx’s shallow junction photonics technology; and believe the application of this technology in the solar and image processing industries could be a game changer,” said Sargent.  “I look forward to working with the team at SiOnyx to bring this innovative and value creating technology to full commercialization.”

    Photovoltaics International 16th Edition

This sixteenth edition of Photovoltaics International marks four years of production of the quarterly journal. As always, our focus is on efficiency and quality improvement and cost reduction in manufacturing. As 2012 rolls along, companies are falling by the wayside due to supply and demand issues, ASP declines and drastic governmental subsidy cuts. A clear picture of 2012 is offered through papers from the likes of TÜV Rheinland, Fraunhofer ISE, SEMI PV Group and EPIA, amongst others.

This digital interactive Lite sees Tom Cheyney follow Agua Caliente’s progress on becoming one of first truly utility-scale PV power farms, where 40–50MW (AC) will be commissioned by the end of the year. We also feature one of the world’s largest silicon thin-film PV power plants, Avenal; a report on warnings of the collapse of module prices from Solarbuzz and PI-Berlin presents tips on PV module testing. A print version of this edition will be distributed at Solar Power International 2011 in Dallas, Texas.
