SMA Solar Technology has been selected to supply its inverters to Kagoshima Mega Solar Power’s 70MW solar plant. Bloomberg noted that the construction of the plant started last month and is set to be finished by next fall. The plant, located in Kagoshima City in southern Japan, is said to be the country’s largest solar plant.

“The introduction of a feed-in tariff for solar power three months ago and the decision of the government to phase out nuclear power by 2040 announced last month underline Japan’s desire to establish itself as a major market for photovoltaics worldwide,” CEO Pierre-Pascal Urbon said. “In the coming years, we expect strong growth in all market segments.”
