The cells are said to use an advanced diffusion process and the latest ‘Solamet’ photovoltaic metallisation paste from DuPont. The Solamet paste was said to be the preferred choice because it helped reduce recombination at the interface with the solar cell without additional capital investment.

The paste was also said to enable enhanced lightly doped emitter (LDE) technology and support fine line printing and can also help to improve adhesion by as much as 15%.

“This step forward for our already industry-leading product offering yet again demonstrates JA Solar's steadfast commitment to pushing technological boundaries,” said Yong Liu, CTO of JA Solar. “We are delighted to be cooperating with DuPont, a company with profound knowledge of materials science and technology that is committed to the long-term development of the solar industry.”

DuPont Microcircuit Materials is featuring the full portfolio of Solamet metallization pastes, including Solamet PV18x front side silver pastes, Solamet PV52x for rear side tabbing silver and Solamet PV36x aluminum paste for Local Back Surface cell designs during SNEC 2013.
