Solar-Fabrik reports positive 4Q09 financial results

Solar-Fabrik has reported its financial results of €3.095 million, EBIT of €2.796 million, and a corresponding quarterly profit of approximately €0.26/share for the fourth quarter of 2009.

Total 2009 revenue reached €135.560 million, in comparison to €178.467 million in 2008, with an EBIT of €1.644 million (-€6.122 million in 2008) from its continued operations in solar power systems and solar cells. The total net result inclusive of all segments amounts to -€4.214 million (-€36.302 million in 2008), where -€3.376 million (-€27.859 million in 2008) are contributed by discontinued and disposed businesses.

The company's 2009 full-year revenue of solar power systems reached €135.542 million with an EBIT of €839,000 in comparison to -€2.606 million and €178.014 million the year before. This represents an EBIT improvement from the nine-month period of €2.740 million, which is for the second time in a row the historically best quarterly result for solar power systems.

The solar cells business segment reached a 2009 EBIT of €915,000 and is anticipating a positive result for 2010.

The anticipated feed-in-tariff reduction in Germany has led to an unusually high sales volume already in 1Q10; Solar-Fabrik therefore estimates that its results for 2010 will be equally as positive as the previous year.

  • Photovoltaics International 19th Edition

For manufacturers who had their heads in the bunker during 2012, fighting falling ASPs and eroding margins, the nineteenth edition brings you details of what lies in store for this coming year. Wright Williams & Kelly return in this issue with their popular analysis of payback on technology buys; crucially they analyze n-type wafers, Al2O3 passivation and copper metallization. SERIS shows us how to achieve 18.7% efficiencies using low-cost etching techniques on diffused wafers. We also have two important technology roundups: CIGS from Helmholtz Berlin, and PV module encapsulation techniques from Fraunhofer ISE.

  • Manufacturing The Solar Future: The 2013 Production Annual

In the ever-changing global solar markets, cost reduction and measures to increase cell efficiencies are the key tools available to PV manufacturers to create new opportunities and drive your business to the next level. Manufacturing the Solar Future 2013 is the third in the Photovoltaics International PV Production Annual series, delivering the next instalment of in-depth technical manufacturing information on PV production processes designed to help you gain the competitive edge.
