The Spanish Minister of Industry, Miguel Sebastián, has announced that the Andasol 3 and Ibersol power plant projects, developed by Solar Millennium, will obtain the pre-registration required to receive the Spanish feed-in tariff. The ministerial order will be ratified by the Cabinet on Friday 13th.
The pre-registration is needed before the statutorily guaranteed feed-in tariff (FiT) can be granted for these projects. At present the tariff in Spain for ground-mounted photovoltaics systems such as this is set at €0.32/kWh. The entry into the register guarantees the receipt of the full FiT, however the Andasol 3 power plant has to be completed within the next 36 months and the Ibersol plant within 48 months.
The construction of Andasol 3 has already begun with the first stage of the 60,000m² of collector surface solar field already complete. Andasol 1 and Andasol 2, the two adjacent projects with 50MW capacity are already in operation.

Ibersol is the fourth 50MW parabolic trough power plant developed by Solar Millennium in Spain and will be built in the Spanish Extremadura region. The Andasol projects are located at the foot of the Sierra Nevada in Andalusia.
