Solarfun appoints Dr. David N.K. Wang and Professor Rongqiang Cui as Independent Directors

Solarfun Power Holdings Co., Ltd., manufacturers of silicon ingots and PV modules, have appointed Dr. David N.K. Wang and Professor Rongqiang Cui as Independent Directors, replacing Zhoumiao Gao and Johan van Splunter respectively.  In addition to Independent Director, Dr. Wang was also appointed to the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors.


Dr. Wang is the Chairman of the Board at Ether Optronics, Inc. while also an Overseas Advisor to the Ministry of Science and Technology of The People’s Republic of China and an advisor to the Greater China Innovation and Entrepreneurship project of Stanford University in the US.  He had been CEO of Huahong Group and is presently Chairman at a subsidiary of Huahong Group, Huahong NEC.  Prior to this, he was Executive Vice President of Applied Materials and President of Applied Materials Asia.


Rongqiang Cui (pictured) is currently a professor and Ph.D. candidates’ supervisor at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, while also being the Deputy Head of the Solar Power Generation and Refrigeration Research Center of the Ministry of Education, Executive Director of the Chinese Solar Energy Society and President of the Shanghai Solar Energy Society.  Prior to this, he worked as an assistant tutor, lecturer, professor and head of the solar energy research center at Xi’an Jiao Tong University for over 30 years.
