Heat waves and higher energy costs make the summer months slightly miserable for most consumers, but SolarMax noted that this past summer those two factors helped the company install and sell over 600 residential solar power systems in Southern California.

“The high cost of cooling and powering a home in Southern California really grabs the attention of homeowners when they see their electric bills double and triple in the summer,” said Guillermo Santomauro, SolarMax Technology sales manager. “We’ve installed a significant amount of solar panels in the Inland Empire this past summer, notably in Temecula, San Bernardino County, Palm Springs, City of Riverside and in Los Angeles and Orange Counties.”

The company claims that its solar system are not only affordable, but reliable, which when combined with city, state and federal rebates, produce an enticing option to homeowners looking to lower their electric bills. “Going solar is easy nowadays; most options allow you to get solar panels for no money down, homeowners get to enjoy upfront savings the moment the system is turned on, and there is still a big 30% federal tax credit available,” Santomauro added. “There’s also a special program for Riverside County residents; the Home Energy Renovation Opportunity by the Western Riverside County of Governments. The HERO program offers tax deductible financing, low interest rates and payments through property taxes as well as no credit score requirement; it’s like writing off your electric bill every year and paying less for power at the same time; solar pays you back faster than you think.”

  • Photovoltaics International 19th Edition

For manufacturers who had their heads in the bunker during 2012, fighting falling ASPs and eroding margins, the nineteenth edition brings you details of what lies in store for this coming year. Wright Williams & Kelly return in this issue with their popular analysis of payback on technology buys; crucially they analyze n-type wafers, Al2O3 passivation and copper metallization. SERIS shows us how to achieve 18.7% efficiencies using low-cost etching techniques on diffused wafers. We also have two important technology roundups: CIGS from Helmholtz Berlin, and PV module encapsulation techniques from Fraunhofer ISE.
