According to Spain’s Institute for Renewable Energy, photovoltaic module installations for 2009 will reach on 125MW, significantly below the 500MW cap set last year, after over 2.7GW of installations took place in 2008. As reported by Dow Jones, Joan Margarit from the government agency said that project finance issues were partly to blame for the lacklustre installations levels.
However, Magarit also cited the falling module prices as another reason for the expected shortfall. This was due to project developers holding back on projects in the hope module prices would fall even further.
