Vertically-integrated PV project developer Solar Power, Inc. (SPI) has announced that its subsidiary, SPI Solar Power Engineering, has reached an agreement with Jingzhaolai PV Power Co., Ltd. of Inner Mongolia to offer engineering, procurement and development (EPC) services for its 20MW PV plant in Liangcheng County, Ulanqab, Inner Mongolia.

Xiaofeng Peng, chairman of SPI, said: “This agreement strengthens SPI's market position in Inner Mongolia, a fast growing PV market with substantial solar development potential. The Chinese government continues to demonstrate its unwavering commitment to solar energy, recently increasing China's PV installation target for 2015 from 15 gigawatts to 17.8 gigawatts of new capacity. As a leader in China's downstream solar market, we are confident that SPI will benefit significantly from these positive macro trends.”

Development on the plant is slated to begin in April 2015, with a grid connection expected in June 2015.

The news of SPI and Jingzhaolai’s deal comes just recently after China's National Energy Administration reformed the county’s PV installation target of 2015 by about 20% — from 15GW to 17.8GW of installed capacity.
