SunEdison commissions 146MW of PV plants in Southern India

Renewable energy developer SunEdison has commissioned 146MW of Solar PV plants in the southern Indian states of Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

Energy from the solar power plants will be sold via 25-year PPAs to local distribution companies and private corporations.

Pashupathy Gopalan, SunEdison’s president of India, said: “SunEdison has built more than 470MW of renewable energy in India so far, propelling the country towards its goal of installing 175GW of renewable energy by 2022.”

A SunEdison statement said it plans to develop more than 1.5GW of solar and wind energy power plants in India over the next 18 months, and aims to develop, finance, and build 15.2 gigawatts of renewable energy in the country by 2022.
