    SunEdison has sold its planned 30MW Spectrum solar project to Southern Company and Turner Renewable Energy.

PV project developer SunEdison has announced that it has sold its forthcoming 30MW Spectrum solar project which is due to begin construction in October to Southern Company and Turner Renewable Energy. The price of the transaction has not been disclosed.

The project will be built on a 311-acre site in Clark County in the US state of Nevada while commercial operation has been scheduled to start during the second quarter of 2013. In addition to developing the plant, SunEdison will be responsible for ongoing operations and maintenance.

Solar power generated from the Spectrum plant will be sold to Nevada Power Company (NV Energy) under a 25-year PPA.

"The Spectrum project represents not only a strengthening relationship with Southern Company, but also a strengthening commitment and presence in the Nevada market, both of which make us proud," commented Carlos Domenech, president of SunEdison. "While we pride ourselves on our capabilities and track record, the success of this project is due in large part to support from many, including NV Energy, US Senator Harry Reid and several state and local officials."

This latest transaction follows the sale of the 20MW Apex project to Southern Company and Turner Renewable Energy in June. The Apex project is also located in County Clark and became operational in the third quarter of 2012.

In July SunEdison also sold a total of 98MW of European PV projects which comprises a 60MW PV plant in Karadzhalovo, Bulgaria, and a 13MW plant and a 25MW PV plant in Italy.
