Sunways PV inverter business attracts interested buyers

Insolvent Sunways, majority owned by bankrupt LDK Solar, has received interest from several prospective buyers of its PV inverter business, according to the company’s preliminary insolvency administrator.

Sunways PV inverter technology and business stream had been a key reason for the initial investment by LDK Solar in 2012.

However, a deal can not be made with an interested third party until insolvency proceedings have been formally opened, according to the preliminary insolvency administrator.

An exclusivity agreement with one of the interested parties is expected shortly, though the administrator cautioned that any sale of Sunways' PV inverter business may not provide sufficient funds to support creditors' requirements, even partially.
