The T-Solar Group, which has 230MW of solar projects under construction in Spain, Italy, India and Peru, advised that it is continuing its international development with the addition of 61MW of solar power in Peru and India. The company recently brought its 5MW PV power plant in India online, which uses thin-film amorphous silicon panels that were fabricated at its Galicia, Spain factory.
The 5MW PV plant is the first of its kind to be brought online by a Spanish company in India and one of the first to be commissioned within the framework of the Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission (JNNSM). The project is expected to provide 8.5GWh of electricity to the country’s national grid each year.
T-Solar is additionally readying itself to connect its 12.3MW solar project located in the Patan district of Gujarat to the grid. The plant was developed by T-Solar and Astonfield Renewable Resources under a joint-venture that the two companies signed last. Both companies anticipate the 12.3MW solar plant to be connected by the end of the 2011, which should generate 19.4GWh of electricity for the national grid per year. Both the 5MW and 12.3MW solar projects were developed under a €38 million investment.
In Peru, T-Solar is working on its previously awarded 20-year contract to supply the Peruvian government with 44MW of solar energy through two PV plants located in the Arequipa region in southern Peru. The two plants will be the company’s first large-scale projects in the country and will utilize its thin-film amorphous hydrogenated silicon modules to produce 80GWh of electricity per year. T-Solar plans for both projects, which hold an €118 million investment, to be online by June 2012.
