Upsolar supplies modules for Italian golf course solar system

La Serra's Upsolar-equipped 190kW system is the largest solar array at any golf club in Italy.

La Serra Golf Club in Valenza, Italy has chosen Upsolar as module supplier for its new 190kW solar project. The system is the largest installed on any course in Italy and will generate enough electricity to cater for all the club’s energy requirements.

“We selected Upsolar based on the company’s track record of quality, the reassurance provided by its warranty and insurance, and its commitment to an environmentally-friendly product lifecycle,” La Serra’s general manager, Gianpaolo Grecu, said.

The array will also help La Serra meet the Italian Golf Federation’s ‘Commitment to Green’ sustainability initiative, and to celebrate this achievement Upsolar is sponsoring golf events in Treviso, Florence and Rome.

“We are honored to work with La Serra to contribute to its clean energy goals,” added Giuseppe D'Elia, head of Upsolar Italia. “As a member of the Italian Photovoltaic Industry Association (GIFI), the company is committed to contributing to clean energy in Italy, and we look forward to growing our presence in the region in the coming years.”

Despite only establishing its Italian subsidiary in 2010, La Serra is the latest addition to Upsolar’s ever-expanding project portfolio on the peninsula. And to help meet this surge in demand for its modules in Italy and across the rest of Europe, last month Upsolar unveiled plans to build a 30MW manufacturing facility in Braga, Portugal.
