In a bid to kick-start the photovoltaics sector in the Netherlands, Van der Valk Solar Systems, the manufacturer of components for the horticultural industry, has joined forces with GH Solar. So far, solar progress in the country has been slow, due to lack of a renewable subsidy structure; however the introduction of a feed-in tariff is expected in the near future.
The two companies have produced a fully custom-made photovoltaic module as part of the collaboration, tapping into GH Solar's custom made photovoltaics experience. The new 'GreenTop' module has been custom-built for mounting on top of greenhouses.
Recently appointed Dutch deputy prime minister, Maxime Verhagen came to visit the result of this project in his function of minister of economic affairs, agriculture and innovation.
The full extent of the GH Solar and Van der Valk Solar Systems project will be rolled out in the first quarter of 2011, generating 5,000 modules. The project is then expected to grow to a total of 7,500 GH Solar modules. The development of this project is led by Van der Valk Solar Systems.

I guess it would be worth investigating whether transparent backplane would allow to gain more irradiation on the plants- integrating the PV into the green house construction - no add on..
