VLSI Research forms cell and module equipment market database

Addressing the need for a source of detailed information on cell and module manufacturing activities for equipment suppliers, VLSI Research, Inc. has launched a new web-based market research subscription service. Entitled the PV-Solar Cell and Module Manufacturing database, the service claims to provide information on cell and module demand in the industry, and, consequently, demand for manufacturing equipment.

“There are over 250 companies vying for a share in this $4.4B high growth market,” commented John West, Managing Director of VLSI Research Europe. “It is critical for suppliers to know exactly where they stand in the market place and how the various segments within the industry are evolving.”

Equipment suppliers require information on projected demand for strategic planning, investor communications, and for other stakeholders in the industry. One of the only available sources of this information to date has been liaising with customers’ forecasts, which have the potential to be inaccurate. VLSI Research’s new PV-Solar Cell and Module Manufacturing database addresses this need in the industry and provides a measurement and forecast of solar cell manufacturing equipment and the related supply chain.

The reports are claimed to clearly indicate and discriminate between markets for turnkey lines, cell and module production.
