India-based PV developer Welspun Renewables has commissioned the 34MW Bhatinda solar project in the Indian state of Punjab.
The project, the largest of its kind in the state, will feed electricity into the Punjab state grid for 25 years.

The plant, which covers 57 hectares, was completed five months ahead of schedule
Vineet Mittal, vice chairman Welspun Renewables, said: “More than ever we need to exponentially build up the country’s renewable energy quotient. Development is a necessity and to make it sustainable it has to be driven by clean emission free energy.
“While powering the state’s industries, we will also be working with our neighboring communities towards sustainable living.”
Punjab has set a target of 4.2GW of solar power, due to power shortages, according to Welpsun.
India has set a 100GW of solar power by 2022 target.
