Project developer Welspun Renewables has confirmed it will build a 100.1MW solar farm in Andhra Pradesh (AP) during a session at the World Economic Forum in Davos.
The company’s vice chairman, Vineet Mittal, made the announcement during an ‘AP Investment’ seminar at the high-level event in Switzerland. AP’s chief minister Shri N. Chandrababu Naidu also attended the event.

A statement released by Welspun said the project would require cumulative investment of INR 700 crores (US$114 million).
“We are quite keen to support Honorable Chief Minister’s endeavour in creating an empowered state. Listening to his speech here at Davos was truly inspiring,” said Mittal.
“We want to extend our green footprint in Andhra Pradesh by setting up a mega solar capacity. Welspun Renewables will be bringing its world-class engineering and project development expertise to this project. Like all our projects we aim to commission the 100.1 MW capacity well in time to meet the committed timelines,” he added.
Welspun is also targeting a foothold in AP’s rooftop market.
