Winaico, a subsidiary of Taiwan-based Win Win Precision Technology, has completed its 16MWp PV project located in Giave in the province of Sassari on Sardinia.
Construction of the plant, which covers around 30 hectares of land, began on February 12, 2012. After 58 days of construction, the plant was connected to the public grid on June 26. According to Winaico, the plant will generate 26,252,226,00 kWh of solar power per year.
During this project, Winaico, which specializes in the manufacture of high-performance crystalline photovoltaic panels, became a general contractor for the very first time. In addition to supplying modules, the company was responsible for the planning, technical design and installation.
The PV system is equipped with 67,704 Winaico WSP-235P6 modules atop of greenhouses which are used for cultivating crops. Earlier this month, the PV modules passed potential-induced degradation (PID) testing conducted by TÜV Rheinland. Winaico’s modules passed the test with a reduction of performance of less than 1%. The plant is also equipped with inverters supplied by Solarmax and LTI.
