US firms Woodward and SolarEdge are to join forces to develop a new power optimization system for utility scale PV plants.
The partnership will bring together Woodward’s knowledge of utility scale PV inverters and SolarEdge's power optimization expertise.
Woodward has over 20GW of utility-scale grid-connected inverters installed, while SolarEdge has developed module-level power optimization systems designed to prevent power losses through soiling or partial shading and to produce up to 25% more power.
Lior Handelsman, SolarEdge founder and VP of product strategy, said: “Woodward has vast experience and knowledge in utility and commercial-scale solar installations, making them the ideal partner for SolarEdge to offer a solution for this segment.”
As part of the partnership, SolarEdge will also distribute Woodward’s SOLO range of liquid cooled solar inverters in Israel, a market where the company is looking to expand.
