XsunX close to thin film solar site selection

With long lead-time thin film equipment such as plasma deposition, sputtering and lasers systems already ordered, XsunX has said that it is in the final stages of site selection for its thin film solar module manufacturing plant to be based in Oregon, USA. Detailed site evaluations at two different locations are underway with a decision based on the findings expected before the end of March this year.

"We are working to finalize these efforts so that we may complete our lease negotiations as soon as possible," stated Mr. Joe Grimes, COO for XsunX. "As we have previously announced, our plan is still to secure a building to house our thin film solar module manufacturing systems by the end of March and that's what our team is working diligently to accomplish."

The company expects to have facilities modifications completed before tools start being delivered later in the year. The company has plans for a phased capacity ramp with a target of 100MW by 2010.

    Photovoltaics International 16th Edition

This sixteenth edition of Photovoltaics International marks four years of production of the quarterly journal. As always, our focus is on efficiency and quality improvement and cost reduction in manufacturing. As 2012 rolls along, companies are falling by the wayside due to supply and demand issues, ASP declines and drastic governmental subsidy cuts. A clear picture of 2012 is offered through papers from the likes of TÜV Rheinland, Fraunhofer ISE, SEMI PV Group and EPIA, amongst others.
