Amplify Energy, a spin-off from Yingli Green Energy Americas, which provides engineering and monitoring services for solar projects, has begun business operations at its headquarters in South San Francisco.

The newly up and running company helps solar project owners, buyers, and developers to assess the value of PV projects and enhance production using engineering and software services that can analyse production and weather data.

Amplify Energy also offers inspection, testing and consulting services.

Brian Grenko, chief executive of Amplify Energy, and former vice president of technology for Yingli Americas, said the company had been started in order to address a gap between expected and actual performance.

He added: “Over time, installed systems have typically performed differently than originally modelled. System owners often lack the quality data and analysis tools needed to capture unrealised production revenue when monitoring system performance, which can amount to millions of dollars of lost savings per year per site."

Robert Petrina, managing director of Yingli Green Energy Americas, said the capabilities of Amplify Energy are based on years of experience in research and development at Yingli's former PV testing laboratory.
