Reis Robotics has developed a new process that provides a fully automatic, circumferential application of adhesive tape before the module framing process step. Because there is no stopping the process at the module corners when the direction changes, Reis Robotics claims dirt and water penetration is eliminated. Various common adhesive tape types from different manufacturers are said to be compatible with this assembly process.
Problem
Conventional adhesive tape placement requires the process to stop at each of the four corners of the module, due to the need for directional change. This can provide the opportunity for dirt and moisture to eventually penetrate the frame over time.
Solution
Reis Robotics has developed a new process, applying the necessary foamed tape continuously at the module corners when the direction changes. These foamed tapes prevent dirt and moisture from entering from the outside. The new process offers considerably increased safety since gap-free continuous gluing is performed at the corners. Without several starting points for the application of adhesive tape on all corners, the risk of water entering the space between laminate and frame can be eliminated. With the assembly process being fully automated, a reproducible method and is intended to provide a consistently high quality finished product.
Applications
Extensive tests in the Reis Technical Laboratory have shown that various common adhesive tape types of different manufacturers are compatible with this assembly process.
Platform
Reis Robotics emphasizes that the new procedure is of modular design which gives customers the possibility of retrofitting the automated taping system into existing production lines. The new modular taping work cell by systems supplier Reis Robotics therefore not only increases product quality, but at the same time minimizes investment costs.
