  • The ‘PowerMod’ Micro-Grid Power Distribution System features direct solid-state switching and includes a DC power supply

Diversified Technologies micro-grid power distribution system handles 1MW of power transfer

    28 June 2011, 11:16

Diversified Technologies has introduced a new micro-grid power distribution system for the simple integration of solar power generators by transmitting DC power along a cable which is suitable for up to 1 Megawatt power transfer. The ‘PowerMod’ Micro-Grid Power Distribution System features direct solid-state switching and includes a DC power supply, DC cable and down converter for providing AC or DC power at the load end point. According to the firm, this new power distribution system offers a link cost as low as US$1.00 per watt, depending upon configuration.

  • Schneider Electric has launched the Square D 1000 VDC disconnect switch, the first enclosed heavy-duty 1000 VDC solar disconnect

Schneider Electric’s 1000 VDC disconnect switch is designed for harsh environments

    20 June 2011, 09:43

Schneider Electric has launched the Square D 1000 VDC disconnect switch, the first enclosed heavy-duty 1000 VDC solar disconnect on the market. The easy-to install switch functions as a local disconnect for a string of Photovoltaic (PV) panels and are designed for an extended life expectancy in harsh environments.

  • Bentek Solar’s Multiple Disconnect Safety System (MDSS) has received ETL listing to UL 1741 and CSA 22.2 certification.

Bentek Solar’s MDSS offers reduced disconnect costs

    28 April 2011, 15:23

Bentek Solar’s Multiple Disconnect Safety System (MDSS), used for commercial and utility-scale PV power plant projects, has received ETL Listing to UL 1741 and CSA 22.2 certification. Bentek Solar’s MDSS is designed for large PV solar systems (250KW or greater), and is intended for installation next to the inverter. The MDSS provides multiple UL 600VDC load-break disconnects combined into one easy to install safe compact enclosure.

    Photovoltaics International 16th Edition

This sixteenth edition of Photovoltaics International marks four years of production of the quarterly journal. As always, our focus is on efficiency and quality improvement and cost reduction in manufacturing. As 2012 rolls along, companies are falling by the wayside due to supply and demand issues, ASP declines and drastic governmental subsidy cuts. A clear picture of 2012 is offered through papers from the likes of TÜV Rheinland, Fraunhofer ISE, SEMI PV Group and EPIA, amongst others.
