The products have a 25-year power output warranty that warrants 6.7% more power than the standard industry warranty. In addition, the panels feature 0/+5% positive power tolerance and have been built to withstand all weather conditions, including 3.800 Pascal wind load and 5.400 Pascal snow loads, well above IEC standard requirements.

HiPerforma modules benefits not only are higher efficiency than industry standard cells but lower temperature coefficients and higher power output per watt installed due to an improved spectral response.

Suntech has launched its new generation high-efficiency ‘HiPerforma’ product line with the introduction of HiPerforma Pluto Vdm-295 and HiPerforma Wdm-245. Both products utilize Suntech’s advanced ‘Pluto’ cell processing technology that allows cells to absorb more sunlight and generate more electricity.

Problem: Continued cell technology advances are required to provide lowest cost per watt. High efficiency modules enable wider adoption and open new markets as costs reduce. High reliability also enables longer warranty periods and better, more consistent performance warranties, leading to positive power tolerance figures.

Solution: HiPerforma modules benefits not only are higher efficiency than industry standard cells but lower temperature coefficients and higher power output per watt installed due to an improved spectral response. This results in up to 12 % higher power output based on same nameplate power. The new HiPerforma Pluto Vdm-295, a 295W panel utilizing 72 6-inch multicrystalline cells, is ideal for both commercial rooftop and utility-scale electricity generation, having a conversion efficiency of up to 15.2%. The new HiPerforma Pluto Wdm-245, a 245W panel utilizing 60 6-inch polycrystalline cells has a conversion efficiency of up to 14.8%. Its universal format combined with an optimum temperature behaviour making it suitable for a wide variety of applications. The HiPerforma Pluto Ade-200 is designed for small residential roofs. HiPerforma Ade-200, the 5 inch mono 72-cell variant with a conversion efficiency of up to 15.7%, was introduced to the market earlier. The new modules extend the product portfolio with polycrystalline products.

Applications: Commercial rooftop and utility-scale electricity generation.

Platform: The products have a 25-year power output warranty that warrants 6.7% more power than the standard industry warranty. In addition, the panels feature 0/+5% positive power tolerance and have been built to withstand all weather conditions, including 3.800 Pascal wind load and 5.400 Pascal snow loads, well above IEC standard requirements.

Availability: September 2011 onwards. Available first in Europe.

    Photovoltaics International 16th Edition

This sixteenth edition of Photovoltaics International marks four years of production of the quarterly journal. As always, our focus is on efficiency and quality improvement and cost reduction in manufacturing. As 2012 rolls along, companies are falling by the wayside due to supply and demand issues, ASP declines and drastic governmental subsidy cuts. A clear picture of 2012 is offered through papers from the likes of TÜV Rheinland, Fraunhofer ISE, SEMI PV Group and EPIA, amongst others.

This digital interactive Lite sees Tom Cheyney follow Agua Caliente’s progress on becoming one of first truly utility-scale PV power farms, where 40–50MW (AC) will be commissioned by the end of the year. We also feature one of the world’s largest silicon thin-film PV power plants, Avenal; a report on warnings of the collapse of module prices from Solarbuzz and PI-Berlin presents tips on PV module testing. A print version of this edition will be distributed at Solar Power International 2011 in Dallas, Texas.
