Power Electronics has launched the second generation of its successful Freesun HEC Series central PV inverters, dubbed Freesun HEC Gen II. The new series ranges from 400kVA to 1700kVA are intended for the utility scale solar market, employing a modular design with redundant technology to be able to work in the harshest environments and provide the highest long-term performance.

Problem

Modular central PV inverters are increasingly required to provide peak performance and operability across a range of varied harsh climatic conditions due to the location of utility-scale PV power plants. System customization through modular platforms that also allow for sufficient redundancy are therefore needed.

Solution

Power Electronics Freesun HEC Gen II comes in two different optimized versions. The standard Freesun HEC can integrate up to 10 modules from 150kVA to 170kVA, and the Freesun HEC+ version that can integrate up to 8 modules with built-in DC monitoring, disconnecting and protecting system ( DU subsystem ). Freesun HEC is claimed to be the most flexible solution on the market, offering more than 200 models of DU subsystem, built-in auxiliary transformer, dedicated room inside for monitoring and measurement equipment, and a wide range of MV solutions as Freesun MV Station or Freesun MV Outdoor Kit. The Freesun HEC Gen II also integrates advances in control and construction with three output voltage levels 360Vac, 380Vac and 400Vac with the widest MPPt windows claimed in the market.  Leading motor control techniques, hyper range of power factor, reactive control during the nightimes, added utility interactive functionalities OVRT, 24 independent array monitoring channels, zonal VSD fan control without dust filters and automatic de-rating above 50 ° C or 820Vcc are included for robust harsh environment operation and high uptime and performance.

Applications

Large-scale PV power plants.

Platform

The second generation inverter has a hyper – durable IP54 stainless steel enclosure, rock wool insulation panel with improved ventilation and extended MMPt voltage range that makes it quite unique. Power Electronics ‘POWER ON SUPPORT’ program provides a complete package for the sector, which includes a 5 year warranty for all solar orders, possible warranty extension for up to 25 years, free and fast commissioning, 24h service, local spare parts stock, free technical training, commitment to 99% availability without extra cost, and a team of experts and engineers to clients with the design and construction of their plant.

Availability

June 2014 onwards.
