A US-based start-up SunCulture Solar Inc. has come out of stealth mode and launched a potentially game-changing fully-integrated residential and off-grid solar system. ‘SolPad’ Home combines multiple patented technologies into a single device, including breakthrough solid-state battery technology, an innovative inverter system and intelligent software to enable real ‘plug and play.’ This is the only PV system in existence that provides complete integration of energy storage, management and high-efficiency solar cells.
GE Power Conversion is introducing Silicon Carbide (SiC) technology into its next-generation 1500V PV inverter product line, bringing increased power conversion efficiency to the PV industry. The LV5+ Solar Inverter is the first multi-MW, utility scale inverter based completely on SiC technology and has an efficiency rating of 99% weighted EU and is being showcased at Solar Power International 2016.
SolarWorld has launched a new era of modules for free-field and flat roof systems. The new ‘Sunmodule Bisun’ is a solar module active on both sides (bifacial) that converts light from all directions into electrical energy. This ensures up to 25 % more yield per installed kWp, depending on the surface on which it is installed. The modules are expected to be provided in 270Wp through 331Wp configurations. SolarWorld has also developed a new racking system for flat roofs that is optimized for the bifacial technology.
Heraeus Photovoltaics has launched a new PERC (Passivated Emitter Rear Contact) metallization paste. The SOL9631 front-side paste has a new and unique glass chemistry combined with a new organic vehicle system. Due to a denser microstructure it is tailored for ultra-fine line printability for screen printing.
SunLink Corporation has expanded its portfolio of photovoltaic project solutions with the launch of the ‘TechTrack Distributed’ single axis tracker. TechTrack Distributed introduces ‘dynamic design,’ providing site flexibility and reductions in total project costs. TechTrack Distributed is the second single-axis tracker in the company’s TechTrack product line, joining the internationally deployed TechTrack Centralized. The new system is being showcased at Solar Power International 2016.
Array Technologies has launched it next generation DuraTrack HZ v3 solar tracking system for utility-scale power plants. DuraTrack HZ v3 offers unique features such as a single-bolt per module clamp and zero scheduled maintenance. This new version is designed to deliver a variety of efficiencies allowing faster installation times, elimination of scheduled maintenance costs and maximizes power plant up-time to deliver optimum LCOE (Levelized Cost of Electricity).
