EDF Energies Nouvelles sources modules from Solarfun & Yingli Green Energy

EDF Energies NouvellesEDF Energies Nouvelles has signed two new contracts for photovoltaic modules to further meet its solar energy development needs in 2008 with Solarfun & Yingli Green Energy.

EDF Energies Nouvelles has placed a firm order of 17MWp and an option for a further 5MWp of monocrystalline silicon modules with Solarfun, and 7MWp and an option to order another 6MWp of polycrystalline silicon modules with Yingli Green Energy.

The modules are for delivery in 2008. They will be used to build ground- and building- integrated photovoltaic plants expected to be brought into service in 2008 and 2009.

The utility company has previously been mainly active in wind power, which currently accounts for more than 80% of its installed capacity. However, since 2006 it has been increasing its solar power footprint with projects which began in France but are now across Europe.
