Intertek
is expanding its global PV testing capabilities with the construction
of state-of-the-art PV module testing facilities in California, USA and
Shanghai, China as well as adding a new photovoltaic module testing
chamber in its Cortland, NY facility. Module testing time is expected
to be reduced to 15 days, according to the company.
"The Solar/PV market has grown by more than 500 percent since 2001 and is on pace to triple in just three more years," said Gregg Tiemann, President of Intertek's Commercial & Electrical division. "This race to market has created a bottleneck in the testing and certification process. Intertek's expansion of services and lab capacity frees manufacturers from these challenges and enables them to deliver products to market faster."
Intertek said that it had recently unveiled new facilities to test grid tie inverters up to 100KVA in their own laboratory.
