ABSTRACT
The thin-film solar industry is entering a new phase of explosive growth. Large scale automated factories will use 5.7m2
superstrates to achieve lower photovoltaic (PV) module production
costs. This paper summarizes recent advances in encapsulating these
large modules and providing high-quality environmental protection using
polyvinyl butyral (PVB)-based packaging.
