XinAo Group and EMCORE team on manufacturing and use of CPV systems

China's largest energy group, XinAo is to install and test EMCORE’s concentrator photovoltaic (CPV) system at a coal gasification project in Langfang, China with the possibility that the project would require more than 60MW of CPV systems. XinAo will undertake reliability and performance testing on a 50 kilowatt (kW) pilot project.

Yingli Green Energy has announced the completion of two sales contracts for the supply of PV modules to Korea Electric Power Industrial Development Corp. (KEPID), a renewable energy company, and Kaycom Corp., an electronic components and PV devices distributor.

Intertek expands PV module and inverter testing

Intertek is expanding its global PV testing capabilities with the construction of state-of-the-art PV module testing facilities in California, USA and Shanghai, China as well as adding a new photovoltaic module testing chamber in its Cortland, NY facility.

Kyocera has signed an agreement with Akeena Solar to manufacture Andalay panels, Akeena’s proprietary solar panel technology. The agreement will see Kyocera using its high efficiency solar cells in the manufacture of Andalay solar panels for Akeena, delivering 1.6MW of panels in 2008.

Power-One’s inverters selected for Spain’s largest PV installation

Power-One, Inc. has been selected by the Energy Division of Isolux Corsán to provide its ‘Aurora’ PVI-Central inverters for Spain’s largest photovoltaic-power installation project. Installation of 100 invertors is expected before September 2008, covering approximately 34MW.

Spire Corporation has won a follow-on turnkey photovoltaic cell module assembly line contract with Spanish renewable energy company Fluitecnik S.A. The new 20MW line will be operated in Portugal.

The United States Department of Energy's National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) has purchased Spire Corporation’s ‘SPI-SUN SIMULATOR’ 4600SLP, the company’s latest model of its Single Long Pulse Solar Simulator technology. The need for the technology is due to the increasing trend in photovolatic module sizes.
