Groundbreaking on the site of GT Solar’s planned
40,000 square foot expansion project took place last week in New
Hampshire. The expansion begins in the same week as the company
announced news of its signing of a $56 million contract with Yingli
Green Energy Holding, the China-based photovoltaics manufacturer.
Tom Zarella, GT Solar’s CEO, also revealed that the
company’s expansion will mean the addition of 50 new employees to the
GT Solar workforce. This expected growth is in addition to this year's
staff increase from 94 in 2006 to 155 this year. The additional 50
staff will bring the company workforce above 200.
