Israel Corp. to manufacture photovoltaic cells

IC Green CEO Yom Tov Semia: Global electricity consumption is growing by 2-2.5% a year. "ICG is considering establishing production lines for photovoltaic panels at various locations around the world, including Israel, South Korea, and Spain," IC Green CEO Yom Tov Semia told "Globes". IC Green Ltd. is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Israel Corporation.

Israel currently has no photovoltaic cell manufacturing capacity, and most products are imported from Germany or Japan. Israel Corp. recently announced that it will participate, through IC Green, in the tender for the construction and operation of the solar power plant at Ashelim in the Negev. Semia said that the company was considering entering the financing field and setting up joint photovoltaic power plants, mostly for the business sector.
