IMEC spin-off Photovoltech has officially opened its new production
line in Belgium boosting its total production capacity to 80MWp a year
from 20MWp at a cost of €30 million.
Plans are also in place to boost production of solar cells to 140MWp by
2009 at a cost of €45 million with 60 new jobs being created, according
to Photovoltech. The photovoltaic cells are manufactured using
IMEC-developed technology.
The next expansion phase, when
completed, is expected to give the company a 4 to 5 percent market
share in 2015, the company said.
