The U.S. Department of Agriculture approved $3 million for Albuquerque-based Sacred Power Corp. to install hybrid solar photovoltaic systems on remote Navajo homes.
Sacred power will receive $2 million to work with the Birdsprings and Coppermine Chapters of the Navajo Nation and another $1 million for similar work at the Inscription House Chapter, said U.S. Sen. Pete Domenici, R-NM, in a news release.
"Many parts of the Navajo nation lack access to clean energy," Domenici said. "USDA funds will help Sacred Power Corporation provide reliable and renewable energy to residents of the Navajo Nation."
