Cherry Chase Elementary powers up with Green Energy

10 June 2008 | Thin Film: | Source: Yahoo
Renewable Power Solutions Inc. has engineered and installed a 10 kilowatt solar power system on Cherry Chase Elementary at 1138 Heatherstone Way, Sunnyvale using building integrated thin film technology by UniSolar. Cherry Chase received the green light on May 30, 2008, allowing the system to go live.

Sunnyvale School District is helping to contribute to the "Green Movement" by installing a photovoltaic system which we hope will inspire students and teachers to become active in the "Green Movement." The district selected UniSolar photovoltaic panels for the project. Using 80 UniSolar PVL 136 solar panels with two PV Powered 3 phase inverters, the system will generate 12,197 kilowatts during the year; eliminating 287 tons of greenhouse gasses, equivalent to 574,000 auto miles over the next 25 years. A monitoring system manufactured by Fat Spaniel will allow web-based tracking of the system's production.
