Moser Baer India Limited, via its wholly-owned subsidiary PV Technologies India Limited, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) worth more than $1.5 billion with an unidentified equipment supplier for thin-film PV equipment.
The MoU is expected to enable Moser Baer to expand capacity from 40MW to over 600MW by 2010, the company said.
Ravi Khanna, CEO of PV Technologies India said, “Leaders in the PV industry will continue to emerge on the strengths of rapid scale up and technology differentiation. We see an increasingly significant role for Thin Film technologies in meeting peaking power requirements and now aim to be a significant player in this arena.”
Moser Baer had previously announced in March 2007 that it had signed an initial 40MW equipment contract with Applied Materials for its ultra-large 5.7m2 substrates, known as SunFab turnkey manufacturing equipment, for a new plant to be built in New Delhi, India.
