There are thin-film modules of the supplier First Solar used, which stand out due to their special profitability. Modules of First Solar are more cost-effective per kWp than conventional solar modules out of crystalline silicon because of their technology as well as their production process. Not only perform they better temperature behaviour but also achieve a higher performance than other modules due to their excellent low light behaviour also in case of diffuse solar radiation.
In the case of that project, which is realised by Payom together with experienced partners, about 11,500 solar modules are bolted with the roof over a kind of lattice work on a surface of more than 8,000 m². Due to the ideal pitch and the optimal southwards alignment of the hall roof, a yearly power production of at least 800,000 kilowatt hours is expected. That corresponds to an estimated avoidance of CO² by more than 700 tonnes per year.
