9REN Group, an Italy-based provider of turnkey solar solutions, has installed and connected a 600kW rooftop PV system in Tenerife in the Canary Islands.
Commissioned by building company Arca Canarias, the 600kW system is equipped with 2,526 245w PV modules provided by REC and 42 Danfoss inverters and was installed in eight weeks atop a new industrial building owned by Arca Canarias.
9REN was responsible for the design and installation of the plant and will oversee its maintenance for at least three years. In addition, 9REN supported its client throughout the design and construction of the building itself to ensure it would be built to a specification required for the installation of the solar plant.
The plant was connected to the grid on 5 December 2012 and will generate an estimated 1,036MWh of electricity every year. It will also benefit from the Spanish feed-in tariff.
“Our strategy is to consolidate and expand 9REN’s presence on the market with an increasingly complete service offering, which we tailor to each client’s specific needs,” stated Stefano Granella, Chief Executive of 9REN Group.
“As an EPC contractor, we install and manage solar plants for third parties and ensure our clients get maximum yield from their PV investment.”
Spain’s solar industry has slowed down in recent months. Indeed, according to data released by Bloomberg New Energy Finance, investment in renewable energy production in Spain dropped by 68% in 2012.
