On 4 March, abakus solar connected its 2MWp Westerwiehe I solar plant located in Rietberg in the Westphalian county of Gütersloh, Germany.
The commissioning of the project was marked by a ceremony attended by the district administrator, the deputy mayor and members of the local government.
The plant, which has been built on a former landfill site, is equipped with 8,640 polycrystalline modules supplied by Trina Solar. The modules will help to generate an estimated 1.9 million kWh of electricity every year.
Sven-Georg Adenauer, district administrator, commented: “This PV power plant is one of the largest in the district county of Gütersloh and is a big move in the right direction to our stage target of ‘energy-autarchy’ for the county of Gütersloh. As we have already been awarded, we are very interested in mounting more PV power plants in our county.”
