ABB Solar has been hired by Emmeesseenne to provide three high-efficiency turnkey PV systems near Foggia, Italy. The US$33 million contract was booked during 2010’s fourth quarter with the three plants anticipated to be operational by 2011’s third quarter. De Nittis 1, 2 and 3 will all be constructed on adjoining sites and will collectively produce 39MW of solar electricity.
“ABB’s expertise and proven track record in executing large-scale solar power projects on a turnkey basis was a key success factor,” said Franz Josef Mengede, head of ABB’s power generation business within the power systems division. “The solution is based on our highly successful modular concept for photovoltaic power plants, which offers customization, fast execution and a high level of productivity.”
ABB has been working with Emmeesseenne on a 15MW EPC contract with plants also located in the Foggia area. With this new contract, ABB will provide the three new plants with complete electrical and control solutions, including grid connections.
