EPIA is preparing for the departure of Adel El Gammal from its ranks. The company announced that El Gammal will continue as secretary general until November 30, 2010, when he will then be succeeded by a new secretary general. No one has yet been named to take his place, but EPIA will release the new leader later this year. El Gammal is credited with helping EPIA become an active voice in the PV industry both in Europe and around the world.
“I would like to warmly thank Adel, also on behalf of the Board of Directors, for his major contributions in positioning EPIA as the world’s leading PV association. During the last 3 years under his leadership, EPIA has launched several strategic initiatives that have fundamentally repositioned PV on the European energy agenda” comments Ingmar Wilhelm, president of EPIA. “The “SET For 2020” study, now recognized as a world reference, has notably established the PV vision and provided the industry with a roadmap positioning PV as a mainstream energy source in Europe” he added.
