In a strategic move that Advanced Energy Industries sights as a way to meet the increasing demand for its utility-scale inverters, the company has expanded its operations in Ontario, Canada to include the origination of a new legal entity to provide local support to its customers in the Ontario area. Additionally, Advanced Energy established a strategic relationship with an electronics manufacturing service based in Ontario, which will produce the Solaron and PV Powered PV grid-tie inverter.
“This expansion into Canada reflects our globalization strategy driven by growing demand for Advanced Energy inverter solutions, and marks our commitment to customers in this area. The Canadian market is expanding rapidly and is a key element of our growth strategy,” said Dr. Hans Betz, chief executive officer of Advanced Energy. He continued, “Our chosen supplier’s proven manufacturing excellence and reputation for quality will allow us to provide our customers in Ontario with the industry’s most advanced PV inverter technology and expertise for residential, commercial, and large-scale grid-tie utility applications.”
In its early stages the new facility will house sales and customer support services and eventually grow to encompass field service, application engineering support and access to Solaron and PV Powered inverters. Advanced Energy anticipates shipping to begin late in the 2010 fourth quarter. The company will also be manufacturing its 1MW and 2MW medium-voltage integrated inverters in Ontario under a different local partnership.
