AEG Power Solutions, a subsidiary of 3W Power, has completed its first ecopx hybrid power station located in New Caledonia. The company signed a contract with the Office des Postes & Telecommunications (OPT) for the delivery of the renewable energy power system last year.
The New Caledonia site uses the ecopx hybrid power solution, which in this installation combines 11kW of solar energy, 5kW of energy form wind turbines and two sets of 3000Ah batteries. The site additionally has a diesel genset as a backup, which can be automatically started on OPT’s demand.
“It’s a major achievement for us because it clearly demonstrates, even in quite extreme conditions, the capabilities of ecopx and the benefits such an installation can bring. Our R&D team has worked with our customer and was able to adjust the system live when we were starting and testing the installation. Demonstrating ecopx benefits is a major step for AEGPS in the Telecom market as ecopx’s unique architecture can really help operators to meet their cost and carbon challenges, explains Dominique Manet VP of the communication business within the energy efficiency SBU of AEG Power Solutions.
Upon the completion of the power system, OPT asked AEG to provide a quote for another power system to be located near Lac de Yaté. The companies advised that the quote has been agreed on for the new hybrid project, but did not reveal any financial or construction timeline details.
