The Governing Board of the ENIAC Joint Undertaking has appointed Andreas Wild as the initiative’s executive director, starting as of 1 September 2009.
Reporting to the Governing Board of the ENIAC Joint Undertaking, Wild will ensure the achievement of the initiative’s mission and objectives. His responsibilities include the efficient organisation of the calls for proposals, the evaluation of submitted proposals, the negotiation and conclusion of grant agreements as well as subsequent monitoring and finalisations.
Serving as the link between all stakeholders, Wild will be the legal representative and the public face of the ENIAC Joint Undertaking.
Wild has a track record in the nanoelectronics industry; throughout his career, he has worked in positions such as European ASIC Engineering manager, R&D Lab Manager and Chief Technologist of the Semiconductor Products Sector. Most recently Wild worked for Freescale Semiconductor, managing research in CMOS, power, sensors and packaging technology.
Wild also co-managed the Advanced Technology function within this collaborative program, developing leading edge technology in the 90nm-32nm generations on 300mm wafers.
“The ENIAC Joint Undertaking needs a strong leader that can bring everyone together – the large companies, the SMEs, the research labs and the universities – in order to ensure that the innovation remains at the heart of European leadership in the domain of nanoelectronics,” said Viviane Reding, European Commissioner for Information Society and Media.
Wild has a master’s degree from the University “Politehnica” Bucharest, and a Ph.D. degree from the Institute of Atomic Physics in Bucharest, Romania. He has also authored or co-authored 23 patents as well as more than 50 technical papers, and is a fellow of the Nano Science and Technology Institute.
