Effective September 7, 2010, Art Buckland will be taking over the reigns of Sunovia Energy Technologies as the new chief executive officer. Buckland brings a diverse background and successful leadership experience to his new role including raising US$175 million in private and public capital while starting nine companies, completing 36 M&A transactions worth over US$1.45 billion and 24 years of serving on public company boards. He is credited with helping to develop the Smart Meters in the 1980s and received the “Entrepreneur of the Year” award for turning CP Clare from a flailing semiconductor company to US$147 million in annual revenue in three years.
Buckland stated, “I am excited to be joining the Sunovia team as Chief Executive Officer. I have spent my career developing and growing companies within the semiconductor and related systems markets, and the incredible potential of Sunovia’s proprietary technologies and products is very clear. Buckland’s experience is littered with time at renewable and traditional energy companies including Schlumberger, Enertec, Solartron and Soliant. He has also worked with semiconductor, supply chain and capital equipment companies during his professional career. With his ability to speak five languages, Buckland has command positions such as CEO, CFO and board chairman for small and large corporations alike.
