US-based module manufacturer, Westinghouse Solar, plans to have its modules assembled by Australian firm EEG, preferred supplier to CBD Energy, which will merge with Westinghouse Solar later this year.
Westinghouse Solar said that products distributed in the US would use Taiwan-made solar cells to avoid duties, while “Made in Austalia” branded modules would be used for the local market.
The company expects shipment of its 250 watt AC and DC solar modules by EEG would start in the third quarter of 2013. The supply agreement is expected to continue through December 31, 2015.
Westinghouse Solar’s merger with CBD Energy was said to still be expected sometime in 2013.
