solarhybrid has bought a 201MW pipeline of PV projects in Israel. The pipeline was purchased from the estate of the insolvent Sunday Energy and cost solarhybrid Israel ILS9 million.

PSEG Solar Source has bought a 25.2MW solar project in Arizona from juwi solar for US$75 million. Construction work on the PSEG Queen Creek Solar Farm, which is being carried out by juwi, is expected to begin in January and finish in Q3.
Schmid Group and Schott Solar’s new high-performance solar cell has achieved an efficiency rate of 19.9%. The joint-manufactured cell uses ‘quasimono’ sillicium wafers, a primarily monocrystalline wafer with a very minor rate of polycrystalline structure. Schott’s crystallization ovens produce the crystals, while Schmid creates the cells.
Die Sonnenfirma has finished construction of a 1.46MWp solar project in the Bavarian city of Würzburg. The system, which is the largest in north Bavaria, has already passed the EEG test and grid connection will be achieved in the coming weeks.
Soventix, Solaris Kraftwerke and Thermovolt have completed the first installation phase of their joint solar park in Gerstingen, Germany. Building work lasted just three months and when the final two phases are finished the site will have a capacity of 4MW.
Conetwork Erneuerbare Energien (CEE) has bought two ground-mounted solar systems in central Germany from Gehrlicher Solar. The two sites, which were commissioned in December, have a combined capacity of 11.4MW and are due to be completed in the coming weeks.
The Indian state of Rajasthan has unveiled plans to build four 1GW solar parks in Jodhpur, Jaisalmer, Bikaner and Barmer. In addition to PV power plants, the four sites will also feature manufacturing and R&D centres.

India’s Prime Minister has appointed Anil Kakodkar as the new head of his government’s solar programme. The French government is set to offer Photowatt France an 11th hour reprieve by investing in the ailing panel manufacturer. Two months ago Photowatt, a subsidiary of Canada’s ATS Automation Tooling Systems, was on the verge of filing for bankruptcy after falling demand and increased competition led to losses escalating.
